Dear Readers:
It is hard to believe that with this issue, we are completing our 28th year of publication! Through the years, The New Social Worker has evolved from a twice-a-year print magazine to a quarterly print magazine, then to three times a year. In 2007, we converted from print-only to primarily digital, while also continuing with PDF and print options.
It is now time for another evolution of The New Social Worker. The magazine will transition to a completely web-based format in 2022, with renewed emphasis on its primary focus on social work careers and career development. We will continue our columns on social work ethics, careers, self-care, and other overarching topics for social work students and early-career practitioners.
This issue is the last regularly scheduled issue in 8.5 x 11 PDF/print format. Going forward, all articles will be published in web format at www.socialworker.com on an ongoing basis. Articles will be tagged with the month and year, so all articles tagged for a particular month will become that month’s “issue.”
We are revising our submission guidelines, so please check our website (link at the bottom of every page on the site) to see what types of articles we are seeking. Also, be sure to sign up for our e-newsletter to stay up to date on new articles and other announcements.
This decision came after much thought about future directions for myself as the publisher/editor and The New Social Worker as we continue to support you, our readers, in your professional development. Thank you for being on this journey with me, and I am excited to enter this new era of The New Social Worker.
With much appreciation,
Linda M. Grobman, Publisher/Editor
