Social Work Month call for entries 2019
March is Social Work Month
(NOTE: Submissions are now CLOSED.)
Submit Your Entry for THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER’s
Social Work Month Project 2019!
Deadline: January 31, 2019
The New Social Worker is seeking submissions from social work practitioners, educators, and students for Social Work Month 2019. Please consider submitting your work for The New Social Worker magazine’s online Social Work Month Project.
The New Social Worker will once again publish an online series for Social Work Month in March 2019. As part of this series, we are seeking submissions on the values of social work.
The New Social Worker is accepting submissions of essays (up to 500 words) and other creative work that relates to one of the six core values of social work (see the Preamble to the NASW Code of Ethics). Focus your essay/work on one of the six values, and be creative in expressing what this value means to you, its importance, or how you have seen the value's relevance in your life/work.
Send Social Work Month submissions to Linda Grobman no later than January 31, 2019.
Submissions must be by social work students or social work graduates.
Please include the following information at the top of your manuscript:
- your name
- your degree (expected or received) and any other social work credentials
- expected graduation date, if you are a student
- school you attend or graduated from
- your email address
- the value you are writing about
- the title of your submission
Then include the body of your submission, followed by a brief bio (1 sentence).
Please include ”Submission—Social Work Month" and which value you are focusing on in the email subject line.
Also, please include the statement, “I grant The New Social Worker/White Hat Communications permission to publish this work and understand it may be published on its websites, on its social media channels, and/or in its publications.”
Before you send your submission, make sure it is the best it can be! Proofread, make corrections, and edit. It can be helpful to have someone look at your work and give you feedback.
Please email your submission to Linda Grobman no later than January 31, 2019. Attach your submission to your email as a Word document. If you would like to include a photo of yourself, or other photos to illustrate your essay, attach it/them to your email as JPG files.
Please pass this call for submissions along to others who may be interested.
Submissions that do not follow the above instructions will not be considered. Entries must be received by January 31, 2019.
Thank you!
