The 34th annual Social Work Day at the United Nations (UN) was held on April 17, 2017. Social Work Day at the UN is a joint program of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) and International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), where invited speakers, representing both the UN and the NGO/social work community speak on a specific topic. For the past several years, the topic has been one of the pillars of the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development. This year, the focus was on Environmental and Community Sustainability. The 2017 event attracted almost 400 social workers, faculty, and social work students to the UN in New York City for this program.
